The Suisun City Council has approved a proposal to contract with an engineering planning firm Moffatt & Nichol to start the necessary activities for the Suisun Marina dredging project.
This cleanup scheme will include dredging operations in the marina channel and in Whispering Bay, the Daily Republic reports.
The contract with Moffatt & Nichol will cost the city $405.000 and the entire dredging project is expected to cost $3.9 million, according to a report to the council from Building and Public Works Director Tim McSorley.
Most of the funding will come from the Victorian Harbor and Marina Village maintenance assessment district, and the Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District. Suisun City still has to find away to come up with $739.000, the Daily Republic informs.
The dredging works could begin as early as August, if all goes according to plan.
Completely rebuilt in 1994, the Suisun City Marina provides 160 rental berthing slips along with a 300 ft guest dock and boat launch ramps at the south end of the marina.
The marina was last dredged in 2008.
