The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, has released the latest aerial photo of the Absecon Inlet Seawall project in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Work is ongoing in the two sections as the wall takes shape, the Corps said in its announcement.

The Absecon Island project is one of several along the New Jersey coastline being funded by $1.2 billion appropriated by Congress to rebuild and strengthen the state’s beaches following Superstorm Sandy in October 2012.

This coastal scheme represents another section of New Jersey’s coast that will receive engineered beaches and dunes, part of the Christie Administration’s post-Sandy goal to provide maximum protection to the shore.
