FSUE “Rosmorport” has just announced plans for the maintenance dredging of the Big Port St. Petersburg and Ust-Luga Port.

According to the announcement, Rosmorport is planning to deploy its own dredging feet in order to remove 152,000 cbm at Big Port St. Petersburg and 80,000 cbm at the port of Ust-Luga.

Starting from the year of 2017, maintenance dredging at Big Port St. Petersburg and in Ust-Luga will be held in compliance with the newly approved project documentation developed by Lenmorniiproekt JSC, reported the Rosmorport.

The company stated that the project foresees maintenance dredging in order to ensure safe navigation and design dimensions of water areas, access canals and fairways for the period up to 2026. All dredging projects have already obtained the state environmental approval.

Rosmorport added that the maintenance dredging will be performed every year. Environmental monitoring is foreseen for dredging operations, the dump areas and the marine environment.

Compensatory measures will be undertaken regularly to mitigate the impact on aquatic biological resources and their ecosystem.
