The Wyk auf Fohr Port Authority has announced tender for the new construction and extension works at the Alte (Old) Mole and the Quermole.

After the last reconstruction in the 1980s, the Alte Mole shows an increased need for repairs to the sheet piling, the authority said.

In addition, the Alte Mole, in terms of its equipment and its geometrical design, is no longer sufficient to meet the demands placed on the port facilities today.

Due to the constant pivoting of the ferry, an expansion of the Alte Mole is required. Therefore, an adaptation of the south side of the mole to the position of the new ferry basin is foreseen.

As a result, the area is to be increased by approximately 800m².

The total value of this development project, set to last 10 months, is EUR6.2 million.

The Quermole represents the south-western end of the sports boat harbor, where the renewal of the surface and the steel section are necessary.

The deadline for submitting bids for this tender is March 2, 2017, and the project should begin in April 2017, the port authority said.
