Mindowaskin Park Pond Restoration project is approaching its latter stages as the contractor, T.R. Weniger, continues to forge ahead with the removal of tons of sedimentary material, reports the Town of Westfield, NJ.

According to the release, so far, nearly three-quarters of the sediment has been dredged and trucked off-site to a proper disposal facility.

Over the next months, as weather permits, T.R. Weniger will complete the removal of the pond’s sedimentary material, including the removal of the material from the upstream concrete flume.

In addition, the banks of the other islands will be stabilized and the perimeter stone edge of the pond will be restored. As the final phase of this pond restoration work, the contractor will repair the lawn area that was disturbed during the project.

The pond restoration is part of the larger Mindowaskin Park 2018 initiative in preparation for the celebration of the park’s centennial anniversary.
