The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, is evaluating a permit application for the Haddrell Street Dock dredging project.

The proposed work consists of modifying an existing dock and dredging in Charleston Harbor at the mouth of Shem Creek.

In detail, the work involves removing an existing 10’ x 40’ concrete floating dock and mechanical dredging of approximately 423 cubic yards of material, reported the Corps.

The material will be placed into containers on the barge and disposed in an upland disposal area owned by the Town of Sullivan’s Island.

Once dredging is complete, a new 10’ x 40’ floating dock will be installed.

The deadline for sending comments on the proposed activity is March 4th 2017.
