The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, in conjunction with Tulsa County will host an information meeting today to answer questions regarding a proposed ecosystem restoration project in and along the Arkansas River at the Case Community Center in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

“No formal presentation will take place but the public is invited to attend and ask questions as representatives from the Corps of Engineers and Tulsa County will be on hand to answer questions regarding the recently released Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment Arkansas River Corridor Feasibility Report ,” USACE said.

The study area includes a 42-mile stretch of ecosystem along the Arkansas River from Keystone Dam to the Tulsa County and Wagoner County boundary.

Key tributary streams include, but are not limited to, Prattville Creek at Sand Springs, Crow Creek in Tulsa and Vensel Creek at Jenks. The study area is confined to within the existing banks of the Arkansas River.

The study identifies ecosystem restoration measures to restore the 42-mile riverine ecosystem within the Arkansas River Corridor that has been degraded since the installation of Keystone Dam and operation of the associated hydropower generation plant.
