The third and final phase of the $19.5 million project that will replenish more than three miles of beach along Galveston’s seawall between 12th and 61st streets is currently underway.

During the scheme, more than 1 million cubic yards of sand will be place along Galveston historic seawall.

This beach fill project, conducted by Weeks Marine Inc., is being funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the Texas General Land Office and the City of Galveston.

When complete in May, the beaches are expected to be widened by up to 150 feet.
