Dredging operations in West Bay were brought to an unexpected stop this past weekend after one of the digging machines became submerged in the water.

The excavator was finally recovered last night, according to a statement on the official Bridport Harbor Facebook page.

Slades of Chard, Bride Valley Motors, Apex Divers and Axminster Excavators were all involved in the recovery operation, the announcement stated.

As reported earlier, annual dredging work in West Bay started on Saturday, March 11 and is set to last for eight days.
