Manson Construction Company of Seattle, Washington, has won an $8.9 million contract for a maintenance dredging project in Galveston, Texas.

According to the U.S. Department of Defense’s announcement, Manson will perform hopper dredging in the Galveston Inner and Outer Bar, Entrance and Houston Ship Channel from Bolivar Roads to Redfish Reef.

The estimated completion date of this dredging program is August 31, 2017. Bids for this cleanup scheme were solicited via the internet with three received, DoD said.

The Galveston Entrance Channel serves as the point of entry for the Galveston, Texas City and Houston ship channels, which support the ports of Galveston, Texas City and Houston as well as industries up and down the channels.
