The Pelican Bay Marina dredging project, undertaken by Mountain West Dredge, has been ongoing for about a month now.

The project has two focuses: installing a pump house for the city of Saratoga Springs to replace a damaged well for secondary water and dredging the public marina.

“The dredging is making good time,” Sam Braegger, Outreach Coordinator for the Utah Lake Commission , said exclusively for Dredging Today.

“Almost 2,000 gallons of material is pumped through the pipe every minute. The plan is to lower the lake bed inside the marina, and just outside its opening by about 3 feet.”

“It is a wet dredging system, so they are siting the material at the marina, in a cordoned off area, to allow the water to return to Utah lake by settling through the soil,” said Mr Braegger.

The cost of the dredging and hauling off the material is roughly $420,000 and the projected date of completion is the second week of May 2017.
