JSC Vostochny Port, part of the Managing Port Company LLC holding, has just announced that dredging work at the cargo berth No. 51 is now wrapped up, enabling vessels with up to 180,000 tons deadweight to berth.

The contractor, Marine Technology LLC, started dredging operations in early March, the port said in its announcement.

The work was conducted on a 200 meter area along the entire berth No. 51 and involved removal of 30,000 cubic meters of material, creating safe depths of more than 16 meters.

According to the release, the dredged material was transported to the designated dumping site at the Lisy Island area.

To complete this cleanup scheme, the contractor brought in the heavy grab dredger Sakhalinets and the dredge barge Olutorskaya.

Vostochny Port recently completed the construction of its Coal Terminal’s Phase 3, also undertaken by Marine Technology. This phase included a significant amount of land reclamation works, bank protection and dredging operations, the port said.
