The Eyemouth Harbor dredging operations are set to begin on Monday, April 3, according to the Eyemouth Harbor Trust’s latest announcement.

This cleanup scheme, conducted by Shearwater Dredging Ltd., will involve dredging works in the harbor entrance and an area called ‘the canyon’, the trust said.

Mariners are advised that temporary restriction to vessel movements may occur and they should navigate with caution in the vicinity. The trust said that a berth at Gunsgreen Basin will be reserved for the dredging vessels as necessary.

The dredging works are expected to last 7-8 days with the completion set for April 11, 2017.

Dredging takes place regularly at Eyemouth Harbor and the last such operation was conducted in 2016.

Eyemouth Harbor is part of the Berwickshire and North Northumberland coast European marine site, so all removal of deposits from the seabed requires a marine licence from either the Marine Management Organisation or Marine Scotland.
