Council to Close Public Comment Period on East McKay Bay Project

The Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council is about to close public comment period on the proposed amendment to the Initial Funded Priorities List (FPL) for the Palm River Restoration Project Phase II, East McKay Bay Project.

According to the release, the Council is proposing to approve $768,680 in implementation funding for the State of Florida Palm River restoration project.

The Council is also proposing to reallocate the $87,750 from the project planning activity in FPL Category 1 to project implementation. The total amount available for project implementation would be $856,430.

These funds would be used for construction of three stormwater ponds, exotic vegetation removal, native planting, monitoring, management of exotic species, and maintenance of the culverts/stormwater ponds along the Palm River at the mouth of McKay Bay.

Deadline for sending comments on the proposed amendment is April 17, 2017. The Council is planning on voting on this proposed amendment on April 19, 2017.
