The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, and S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control recently received an application for a permit to dredge accumulated sediment in Lake Hartwell.
According to the Corps, the proposed work is located in Seneca, Oconee County.
In detail, the project consists of dredging approximately 593 cubic yards of accumulated silt and sand sediment from a 6000 square foot area in the cove adjacent to 728 South Alexander Road on Lake Hartwell by using a mini-excavator.
The dredging, if approved, will occur to depths of 1 to 3 feet at the deepest end of the project area. The dredged material will be moved 0.7 miles to the upland disposal site with a 10-ton dump trailer truck.
