Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) from Oak Brook, Illinois, has won a $16.7 million contract for West Coast hopper dredging, according to the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) latest announcement.

Under this contract, the dredging operations will be performed in Eureka, CA, Longview, WA, Coos Bay and Astoria, OR, with an estimated completion date of November 1, 2017.

USACE estimates that approximately 4,050,000 cubic yards will be dredged as mandatory line items, with additional optional items depending on project needs and funding availability.

Dredged material taken from these areas will be placed at designated in-water placement sites, including ocean and river disposal.

Bids for the West Coast hopper dredging program were solicited via the Internet with two received, DoD said.

If all goes according to schedule, the works will begin in May 2017, USACE said.
