Work continues to progress on the outline design phase of the Portchester to Paulsgrove Coastal Defense scheme as ground investigation works are due to be on site shortly, reports the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership.

According to ESCP, the works are intended to investigate the existing ground and site conditions of the project site and inform the detailed design stage (subject to Environment Agency business case and funding approval planned for mid to late summer 2017).

The ground investigation contract has been compiled, tendered and awarded to S.M Associates based in Oxfordshire.

The works will be managed through a NEC Engineering and Construction Short Contract (ECSC).

Mobilization is already underway, with the work set to begin on 24th April and expected to run for three weeks.
