Beginning Tuesday, May 2 through Thursday, May 4, the boat ramp at Huntington Park will be closed to the public due to the emergency dredging operations inside of the ramp area, the City of Newport, Virginia, just announced.

“Sediment build up on the ramps has made it difficult for boaters to use,” the city said in its announcement.

The rest of the park will remain open for normal use from sunrise to sunset.

Other public boat ramps in Newport News that are available for public use are Peterson Yacht Basin and Denbigh Boat Ramp, the city said.

Huntington Park is located at 5500 West Mercury Boulevard at the foot of the James River Bridge.
