Bradford Council will host a drop-in session to give residents and interested parties the opportunity to find out about the ways the council, the Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water have been working together to help tackle flooding problems across the district.
The session will take place at the Keighley Library on Tuesday, May 9th 2017 from 2pm – 6.45pm.
The council and the Environment Agency have been busy lately working with town and parish councils across the district to ensure that communities are better prepared for flooding and other emergencies. They have also been working together to produce reports known as Initial Assessments.
Initial Assessments provide an overview of the area, the flooding history from all sources of flooding, the number of properties at risk of flooding, any options that could be taken to reduce risks, as well as any positive or negative environmental impacts that could result from any measures put in place.
The assessments have been carried out in 14 areas in the Bradford district which are in Silsden, Keighley and Stockbridge, Bingley and Airedale, Baildon and Shipley, Esholt and Apperley Bridge and Ilkley.
These Initial Assessments are part of the Bradford Flood Program, which includes initiatives such as modelling upstream storage options, surface water modelling, in-water debris clearance in partnership with the Aire Rivers Trust stewardship project and resident and business Flood Resilience and Community Engagement information packs.
