The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, has just released its latest update on the Oceanside Harbor dredging scheme, saying that the operations halted May 8 due to weather and equipment issues.
A total of 53,000 cubic yards of sediment has been dredged to date. The contract calls for a total of 430,000 cubic yards of sediment to be removed from the entrance channel and placed on Oceanside beaches.
USACE awarded the contract to Manson Construction Company of Seattle, Washington, on March 13.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, dredges this entrance channels on annual basis in order to maintain the federally authorized depth necessary to accommodate the military, commercial and private vessels that use the harbors.
