GLDD Bags Atchafalaya River Dredging Contract

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company (GLDD) from Oak Brook, Illinois, has won a $7.7 million contract for Atchafalaya River bay and bar channel dredging, according to the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) latest announcement.

Bids were solicited via the Internet with four received, DoD said.

Work will be performed in Morgan City, Louisiana, with an estimated completion date of November 16, 2017.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, is the contracting activity.

Ensuring commercial shipping continues unrestricted in southeast Louisiana, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracts dredges to keep navigation “lanes” open.
