The Queensland Government has just announced that a $1.7 million contract has been awarded for the upgrades of the popular St Helens Beach boat ramp.
Main Roads and Ports Minister Mark Bailey announced today that Queensland marine civil contractor, Pensar Building won the contract to complete the works.
“ Works include upgrades to the existing Carpet Snake Point boat ramp and access causeway, including the construction of a rock groyne which will greatly benefit boaties and fisherman in the local community, ” Mr Bailey said. “ The rock groyne will be constructed on the north side to protect the ramp from wind and wave action. ”
According to the government, the Carpet Snake Point boat ramp will be closed during the construction works.
Works are set to begin in early June 2017, with completion expected to be finalized by late October, weather permitting.
Funding for the project will be provided through the Queensland Government’s Marine Infrastructure Fund.
