Mercator Ltd, one of India’s diversified conglomerates with interests in coal, oil and gas, shipping and dredging, has won a contract for the New Mangalore Port maintenance dredging work for a period of three years.

The company said that they won this competitive contract against domestic as well as international bidders.

New Mangalore Port is a deep-water, all-weather port at Panambur, Mangalore in Karnataka state in India, which is the deepest inner harbor on the west coast.

The main goal of this maintenance dredging scheme which includes the outer approach channel, new dock arm and old dock arm (Eastern dock) is to achieve the desired depths in these areas.

The dredging work is to be carried out without causing any obstruction or interference with the normal traffic in the harbor, the port said.
