Manson Construction Company has suspended dredging operations at Oceanside Harbor federal entrance channel, reports the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District.

According to the Corps, the company dredged about 293,000 cubic yards of sand from the entrance channel, as of May 25. The base contract calls for the removal of 280,000 cubic yards.

Because of the presence of additional accessible material in the channel, the availability of funding to continue dredging and anticipated sea conditions, the Corps Los Angeles District has coordinated with the City of Oceanside, the project’s sponsor, and the appropriate permitting agencies to dredge beyond the initial project completion date of Memorial Day Weekend.

As a result, Manson suspended dredging at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 27, and will resume operations at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 30.

This revision authorizes Manson to continue dredging until June 12, if necessary, to dredge up to 420,000 yards of material.
