The last meeting of the multidisciplinary team who have worked hard on the Maasvlakte 2 terminal for the past one and a half years took place yesterday, May 30, reports Iv-Infra.
The company also reported that this Thursday, 1st of June, the complete deep sea quay wall will be delivered.
According to Project Manager Leon Tuunter , the timing and technology challenges of this project were really fun and exciting.
“The technical challenges we encountered were exceptional construction depth, removal of the thick clay layer at vast depths for the quays, the monitoring process whilst dredging, supplementing and compacting the sand layer and sparring with partners to solve problems quickly, ” said Tuunter . “ Its all great. You just have to keep going, maintain the motivation and focus on the common interest whilst facing many challenges.”
At Maasvlakte 2 in Rotterdam, Sif Group has been working on the construction of a 42-hectare offshore terminal for the assembly, storage and transhipment of mega monopile foundations for the offshore wind turbine industry.
The contract for the design of a heavy-load deep-sea quay and a complex inland navigation dock was awarded by The Rotterdam Port Authority to MariTeam in May 2015. The MariTeam as a partnership between Iv-Infra, SBE and MUC was responsible for the construction.
