Cowes Harbor Commission’s 2017 Annual Public Meeting was held last Thursday, May 25, at the Island Sailing Club.

During the meeting, Harbor Master Capt. Stuart McIntosh delivered a presentation covering the highlights and challenges for the Cowes, and reported on the Commission’s progress against six strategic objectives from CHC’s Strategic Plan 2016-2021.

Mr McIntosh reminded the audience that CHC continues to work on the Outer Harbor Project adding that the optimized design, consents and costs for the proposed Eastern Channel dredge and Shrape breakwater extension are completed.

He also added that CHC is ready to place the construction contracts for the dredging of the Eastern Channel and Shrape extension, however, the Harbor Master emphasized that this was conditional on the marina developer completing and securing the funding.

At the end Mr McIntosh concluded that CHC’s objective is to deliver a cost-effective Medina Estuary ‘Sustainable Maintenance Dredging Management Plan’ by the end of this year in partnership with dredging stakeholders.
