Royal IHC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Indonesian-based shipping company PT. Humpuss in which the two companies agreed to cooperate in dredging activities in Indonesia.

“PT. Humpuss intends to expand its business in dredging services by making use of IHC’s in-depth knowledge and expertise of engineering and manufacturing high-performance integrated vessels and equipment for the dredging market,” according to the IHC announcement.

Arnold den Boon, IHC Executive Director Sales, said: “We are delighted to have entered into this agreement and are confident that this is the start of a long-term cooperation between our two companies. We look forward to contributing to the growth of the local dredging market.”

Margaretha W Pattihahuan, Managing Director of PT MISI Hutama Internasional, a subsidiary of PT. Humpuss, added: “With this cooperation, we intend to further expand our existing fleet of LNG, oil and petrochemical carriers, tugboats and barges. By setting up a dredging division, we want to build up a fleet and increase our expertise in the field of maintenance dredging. We are glad to have IHC as our partner.”

This announcement follows IHC’s first dredging seminar in Jakarta, which took place in April. One of the speakers at the event was President of PT Humpuss, Mr Lekatompessy.
