The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District, will host an informational open house about its regulatory program in Kodiak.
The event is scheduled to take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on July 11th in the Alaska meeting room at the Kodiak Public Library.
USACE Regulatory Division representatives will be available to answer permitting questions regarding requirements for placing fill and structures in waters of the U.S.
The Corps’ regulatory program evaluates permit applications for most construction activities occurring in wetlands, streams and related waters of the U.S. It is committed to maintaining and restoring the nation’s aquatic resources, while allowing reasonable development through fair, flexible and balanced permit decisions.
Under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, a permit is required for work or structures in, over or under navigable waters of the U.S. Under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, a permit is required for the discharge of dredged or fill material into waters of the U.S., including wetlands.
