North Carolina Coastal Commission Meeting Today

The North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission will meet July 11-12 to discuss flood maps, coastal resilience, land use planning and several other coastal topics.

The commission will meet at the Holiday Inn in Greenville, at 1 p.m. July 11.

Items on the commission’s agenda include:

Flood maps – The commission will hear a presentation on the development of flood insurance rate maps.

Coastal resilience – The commission will hear a presentation on a coastal resilience evaluation and needs assessment project.

Land use planning – The commission will hear presentations on an amendment to the land use plan for the town of Beaufort and adoption of a land use plan for the town of Boiling Springs.

Dune protection – The commission will hear a presentation on amendments to the dune protection rules to address restoration and repair.

Development line approval – The commission will consider a request to approve the town of Kure Beach’s development line.

Rule development – The commission will consider amendments to rules related to development lines, civil penalties and temporary erosion control structures.

The Coastal Resources Advisory Council, a group that advises the Coastal Resources Commission, will also meet at 10 a.m. July 11 at the Holiday Inn in Greenville.
