Aviso Instruments said in its latest announcement that Royal IHC has chosen their engine monitoring system REDS Maritime to implement on a selection of IHC’s new build vessels.

“This makes REDS Maritime part of IHC’s critical asset management software. Additionally IHC has the ability to introduce REDS Maritime to their broad customer-base, including dredging operators, oil and gas corporations and offshore contractors,” the company said.

REDS Maritime is an engine monitoring system for ship engines. It is designed to 24/7 monitor the status, health and efficiency of a running combustion engine. This is done by measuring the torsional vibrations in the engine.

The system recognizes functional deviations three weeks in advance by measuring the power contribution in all cylinders and the engine’s mechanical and thermal health.
