The town of Surfside Beach, SC, has just released the latest update on their beach fill project, saying that the Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company (GLDD) is now beyond the northern limits of the town and will proceed north to the Myrtle Beach City limits.

This should take approximately 20-25 days, depending on the weather and mechanical issues.

“Once the northern end of Reach 3 is complete, the contractor will disassemble the pipe back to 6th Avenue North and reverse direction proceeding southerly toward the pier. Once that operation is complete, the 6th Avenue feed line will be completely removed,” the town said.

At that point, the contractor will redeploy from 13th Avenue South and proceed north toward the pier and, finally, south toward Garden City.

When the entire Reach has been completed, they will disassemble the pipe and the 13th Avenue South feed, the town said.
