Town of Hilton Head Island has just released the latest update on their beach fill scheme, saying that the Marinex Construction’s cutterhead suction dredger Savannah, along with attendant tug boats, barges and support vessels are expected to arrive in the area during the following days.

The dredger will be taken off tow and made ready to start the beach renourishment work immediately upon its arrival.

According to the announcement, the necessary submerged pipeline between the Barrett Shoals borrow site and the beach has been deployed. A pipeline landing on the beach near Green Winged Teal Street has also been established.

The dredger will be temporarily anchored near the mouth of Calibogue Sound.
