The Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is currently looking at options to conduct emergency foreshore works at the Lake Cathie Foreshore Reserve, including seeking emergency funding to address the immediate erosion issues to protect the reserve.

The council is aware of the major erosion impacting Lake Cathie Foreshore Reserve, as the result of recent high seas and large swells, they said in its latest release.

These weather conditions have added to the erosion caused by other significant weather events over the past year.

“The community will be informed once an emergency solution is identified. Barriers are in place to prevent risk of fall for reserve users, and the community are asked to exercise caution in the area,” according to the announcement.

Development of a Draft Masterplan for Lake Cathie Foreshore has started, and through this process the community will have input into longer term management strategies for addressing erosion at the reserve.
