The Town of Hilton Head Island has just released the latest update on their beach renourishment project, saying that approximately 100,000 cubic yards of sand have been placed along 4,000 feet of shoreline so far.

Sand placement activities between Green Winged Teal Road and Brown Pelican Road, conducted by the contractor Marinex Construction, were completed a couple of days ago, the town said.

In the following days, the project pipeline is expected to be removed from the newly constructed berm thereby restoring complete access to the beach.

Sand pumping operations will then start at Green Winged Teal Road and advance northward to East Beach Lagoon Drive in coming weeks, according to the town’s announcement.
