Mercator Ltd, one of India’s diversified conglomerates with interests in coal, oil and gas, shipping and dredging, has won a contract for the Director General Naval Project (DGNP) maintenance dredging work in Visakhapatnam.

DGNP was established at the Naval Base Vizag for setting up a composite complex consisting of Naval Dockyard, Training School Complex and a Naval Base as per the Soviet Project Report (SPR).

The role of the organisation is to create and upgrade technical, marine and civil infrastructures of highest quality standards for Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam and INS Eksila, as also for executing any technical project being tasked.

The total value of this contract is $6 million and the work should be completed in FY 18, Mercator said in its release.
