The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ $10.6 million emergency beach renourishment project for North Myrtle Beach has entered into its final leg, the City of North Myrtle Beach said in their latest release.
The contractor, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company, has completed work in the Windy Hill section and is in the process of demobilizing there.
At the same time, they have mobilized for the final leg of work in Cherry Grove from 55th Avenue North, northward.
The contractor works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, usually completing up to 500 feet per day, barring mechanical or weather/sea condition delays, the city stated.
Designed and paid for by USACE, the sole purpose of the project is protect structures from storm surge and/or high tide. USACE designed the emergency project according to its guidelines and regulations.
