Premier Marinas is currently in the process of applying for permission to dredge the approach channel to Southsea Marina in spring 2018.
The main goal of this dredging scheme is to restore the channel to published chart datum depth and to realign it with the channel markers; this will act to increase access to the South Coast marina and Southsea’s waiting pontoon.
Southsea Marina Manager, Rupert Bremer , said: “ Premier is working hard to make access to the marina better for its customers and we are investing in the best technologies to assist with this.”
The channel was last dredged in 2004/2005 using water injection.
This time, Premier will utilize a backhoe and barge which will be more effective in removing solid lumps, the company said in its announcement.
