Onego Shipyard LLC held a keel laying ceremony today for FSUE Rosmorport’s new Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) 2000.
The newbuild, to be named Yury Maslyukov, is the sixth dredger that will be built in Russia under the design of the Dutch company Damen.
The other vessels include one CSD 650, three TSHD 1000 vessels (built at Krasnoe Sormovo under Damen license) and the TSHD 2000 Severnaya Dvina. Rosmorport also operates a number of Damen workboats.
When speaking at the ceremony, RF Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov , emphasized that involvement of advanced production technologies and competence, as well as favorable geographical location, will let the shipyard compete in the market of river ships for Neva/Volga/Kama/Moskva/Don rivers and Onega/Ladoga lakes.
“ The number of orders being implemented by Onezhsky shipyard has increased. In 2016-2017, the shipyard built and delivered to Rosmorport nine service fleet vessels. Four more ships will be delivered in 2018, ” said Minister Sokolov.
According to Rosmorport, the construction of a new dredger is a significant contribution to the development of the Northern Sea Route and the Arctic zone. The Yury Maslyukov will be able to work in adverse climate conditions of the northern region to ensure the required depth at many Arctic seaports.
“ TSDH 2000 ships comply with the latest requirements on designing and construction. The dredger will be able to operate under temperature between -35°C and +40°C. The Yury Maslyukov will be fitted with high performance dredging equipment and additional equipment allowing for dredging in limited areas near piers and berths, says the statement ,” the company said.
After delivery in 2019, the new vessel will be used for maintenance dredging operations in the northern region of Russia, as well as for dredging of the Sabetta seaport.
Vessel particulars: LOAD – 80.35 m, molded length – 76.1 m, breadth – 16.2 m, draft during dredging – 5.1 m, maximum depth of dredging – 22 m, hold capacity – 2,000 cbm.
