The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, has started working on a bank stabilization repair project along the Gull River near the Corps’ Gull Lake Dam, near Brainerd, Minnesota.
The Corps’ maintenance and repair crew out of Fountain City, Wisconsin, is performing the repairs.
According to the Corps, construction should be completed by early December. “ The construction completion timeline may be impacted by site conditions and/or inclement weather.”
The repairs include bringing in sand and topsoil to fill cracks that developed when the embankment eroded as well as placing riprap, or rock material, to protect the repairs and prevent future erosion. The Gull Lake Dam Road will be reopened to traffic once the repairs are complete.
