The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, has received an application for permit for the Maintenance Dredging of Naval Base San Diego (NBSD).

The proposed action consists of maintenance dredging of Piers 1, 4, 5, 8, North Mole Pier, & Paleta Creek at NBSD, reported the Corps.

Also, the project calls for ocean disposal at the LA-5 ocean disposal material discharge site (LA-5 ODMDS), located 5.4 miles southwest of Point Loma in the Pacific Ocean.

According to the Army Corps, the U.S. Navy proposes to remove approximately 190,000 cubic yards of material in order to restore berthing areas at NBSD.

The deadline for submitting comments on the proposed work is December 27, 2017.
