The Rothen Group, an independent civil engineering and maintenance business servicing UK waterways, has reported a 20 per cent growth during 2017.
The growth has led The Rothen Group, previously Ian Rothen Ltd, to expand its team, from six to twelve, and add new boating equipment to its fleet.
Additionally, the fleet was expanded from 15 to 45 boats including a new reed and weed cutting – to provide clients with a solution to cope with very dense vegetation and the increasing number of invasive species.
Ian Rothen, founder of The Rothen Group , said: “ Thanks to a busy and profitable 2017 we’ve experienced a number of new and positive developments, right across the business. Over the past 12 months, this has included working with new and existing clients to restore major waterways on a national scale, as well as undertaking smaller works, including privately commissioned jobs.”
“As a result, we’ve doubled our team in a single year, and have also pooled resources back into the business to further increase the number of services we can provide to our customer-base. Alongside developing innovative solutions, such as the 70ft crane boats that are now making light work of lock gate replacement, the addition of our specialist reed and weed cutting boat is vital for summer maintenance works across the UK waterways.”
In a move to safeguard the future of maintenance and restoration of the canals, The Rothen Group has also purchased a commercial premises and a wharf on the Coventry Canal. This space will be developed in 2018 as a boat yard and for storage, in addition to becoming a training facility, the company also said in its announcement.
