The construction and dredging work of Bahadurabad of Jamalpur and Balasighat of Gaibandha will be inaugurated on March 3, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha – the Bangladesh’s national news agency.
This was disclosed at a meeting on ‘Development, Finance and Administration of BIWTA’, chaired by the Shipping Minister, Shajahan Khan.
The main purpose of the dredging is to ease traffic congestion on Bangabandhu Bridge, speed up vehicular movement on the bridge and ensure smooth travel of ferries between Bahadurabad and Balasighat for the northern region passengers.
Acting secretary to the ministry, Mohammad Abdus Samad, and BIWTA members Mohammad Nurul Amin and Mohammad Shahidul Islam, also attended the meeting.
