The Texas Water Resources Institute’s Urban Riparian and Stream Restoration Program will host a workshop in Lewisville on February 21 for professionals interested in conducting stream restoration projects around the Dallas area.
The morning session will be at the Upper Trinity Regional Water District, 900 N. Kealy St. and the afternoon session will take place outdoors along a river, where attendees will learn stream surveying techniques.
The workshop, a new urban riparian program training, is co-hosted locally by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office in Denton County, the Upper Trinity Regional Water District, the North Texas Municipal Water District and Tarrant Regional Water District.
Information including the hydrologic cycle, basics to stream morphology, stream classification, stream instability, stream restoration, stabilization structure, vegetation, and monitoring and evaluation will be explained through classroom-style teaching in the morning session and hands-on activities in the field at a nearby stream in the afternoon sessions.
Workshop presentations will be given by representatives of the Texas Water Resources Institute and the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas.
