The dredging and landscaping project at Minnawarra Park Lake is set to begin tomorrow, February 15, reports the City of Armadale (WA).
According to the City, the dredge process will alleviate deep accumulated sedimentation and organic sludge that has built up over recent decades.
“ Organic material and water that is extracted from the lake during the process will be returned back into the lake once the organic material has been separated in large “de-sludging tubes” located along the park adjacent Armadale Road ,” reported the City.
The City also added that during the dredge process areas of the reserve will still be available for use, however some areas around the work site and lake edge will be temporarily fenced off and various sections of pathways closed.
Dredging works are expected to be completed within 8 weeks.
At the completion of the dredge project, a major landscaping upgrade of the reserve will take place, including re-grading the lake edge and installation of 180 ton of rock boulders to improve accessibility and erosion control, new boardwalk with aluminated arbour, additional accessible pathways and LED lighting, new park furniture and landscape plantings.
