The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters has announced FY19 Work Plan budget allocations, with New York District receiving approximately $74,273,500 million for its projects and studies.
“ The Fiscal Year 2019 Civil Works budget reflects the administration’s priorities to support and improve the nation’s economy and infrastructure ,” reported the Corps.
The Work Plan released by Headquarters details how the Corps will execute the Civil Works appropriation.
New York District’s Civil Works Program encompasses a wide range of areas including flood risk reduction, operations and maintenance dredging, environmental remediation, and environmental restoration. Funding is primarily distributed into three main areas within the District: Navigation, Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration and Environmental Flood Risk Management.
“ Now that Fiscal Year 2019 federal dollars have been allocated, the New York District is moving forward with our local partners to execute our various programs, projects and studies ,” said Col. Thomas Asbery, New York District’s Commander and District Engineer . “ We’ll continue to deliver the navigation, flood damage reduction and environmental restoration mission to communities throughout the District’s area of responsibility .”
Some examples of the Navigation Projects funded under the FY19 Work Plan include:
