The boat ramp and access to the boat basin at T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park will be closed through the end of February due to dredging work.

According to the Florida State Parks’ latest announcement, the dredging operations on the boat basin channel are underway and boat traffic will not be permitted while the dredging is being conducted.

Anyone in the last few months that has launched a boat at the park’s boat ramp can attest to it has been a challenge to get into St. Joseph Bay, they stated in the release. Sand has filled in and closed off the channel from the boat basin to the bay.

This is especially noticeable during low tide.

This repair is much needed and will make boating activities more enjoyable once the dredging is completed, the State Parks said.
