Royal IHC is currently conducting the outfitting works on the new multi-purpose 5.450m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) DC Orisant.
The vessel was built for joint venture consisting of Den Herder (Reimerswaal Dredging) and Group de Cloedt.
According to the shipbuilder, the dredger installation has been designed to dredge marine aggregates (sand and gravel) for the construction industry.
The TSHD will also be extremely suitable for performing regular dredging projects, such as maintenance dredging and beach nourishment.
The launching ceremony took place last month at the IHC’s shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, the Netherlands.
When delivered in mid-2018, the DC Orisant will be the first complete diesel electric aggregate dredger in the market.
