Due to the hazardous weather conditions from the recent storms, the Bathtub Beach/Sailfish Point renourishment project was put on hold for safety concerns, Martin County said in its latest project update.

Areas where renourishment was taking place held up very well during the rough conditions and high seas.

This very important coastal protection project, undertaken by Ferreira Construction Southern Division, will resume within the next few days and crews will be working on the north end of Bathtub Beach.

The pipes and heavy equipment will return to the site and the beach will once again become a construction area.

The dredgers began sand pumping operations during the first week of February.

As a FEMA Storm Damage Recovery Project, crews will work to repair damages from Hurricane Irma in an ongoing effort to mitigate the impact of strong currents, heavy wind and big waves.
