The piling work at Church Scar is now complete, and the temporary road which is used to transport materials along the promenade has been created, reports the Flyde Council.
According to the Council, the temporary road will allow a one way traffic system for the construction vehicles to transport materials along the promenade.
“ The demolition of the existing sea defense wall for Phase 1 of the work at Church Scar is underway, and we will continue to remove this over the upcoming months, ” the Council said. “ The construction of the new sea defense wall at Church Scar has begun, and this will be topped with a thin layer of concrete.”
The layer of concrete will act as a bedding for the new concrete sea defense wall units, which we will then begin to place. The placement of the new units will take approximately 6 months to complete.
Th Church Scar Coastal Protection Scheme is a partnership between Fylde Council, VBA and the Environment Agency.
VBA, the main contractor, is a joint venture comprising VolkerStevin, Boskalis Westminster and SNC-Lavalin’s Atkins business, who specialize in designing and constructing sustainable flood and coastal defenses throughout the UK.
