The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources Ministry yesterday recommended the Bangladeshi Government to complete the dredging of Buriganga, Shitalakkhya and Turag rivers on a priority basis, United News of Bangladesh (UNB) reports.
The committee came up with the suggestion at its 36th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad, chaired by Ramesh Chandra Sen.
The Parliamentary Watchdog also discussed the implementation progress of a flood control dam-cum-road project in the area of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) at Mirsarai in Chittagong, UNB said.
During the meeting, the committee was informed that the works on Teesta Barrage Project, Phase-II (Unit-1) will complete soon.
Committee members State Minister for Water Resources Muhammad Nazrul Islam, AKM Fazlul Haque, Faridul Haque Khan, Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq, Mustafizur Rahaman Chowdhury and Selina Jahan Lita attended the meeting.
